Natural Hunting Certificate to Raccoon (22 Sep 2001)

Falling Branch Katie of Blackburn came to us at the age of four months.  Back in 1996 during his many trips to East Coast JRT trials, Jerry fostered a friendship with Liz McKinney and Lynn Grimsley of Falling Branch Kennel in Virginia.  When we found out that they had a pup remaining from a Falling Branch Seth x Falling Branch Patch breeding, we decided to add a second JRT to the family.  Katie comes from a legendary hunting background - her grandfather is Meynell Ringo - and has proven herself in the field as well.  Katie's has earned an NHC to raccoon, earned on 22 September 2001 while hunting near Caseyville, Illinois with two friends of ours (including JRTCA working judge Sue Parsons).  Katie's favourite quarry is, like her mother, raccoon - she has worked possum and groundhog numerous times as well, however.  She has passed on her fantasic (and interesting) personality - as well as her nose for the ground - to her offspring.  We are proud of everything that Katie has accomplished thus far and look forward to many years ahead with her.  As our foundation dam, she is the terrier from which our breeding program will ultimately trace back - the fruits of which are beginning to be demonstrated, particularly in her offspring ZZTopDog and Kira Nerys.

Katie has been bred three times:

February 22 & 24, 1999, to All Seasons B.D.L.W.D. (Woody) of Dutch Creek; pups whelped April 25, 1999.
January 16 & 19, 2002, to Wild Remain Toast; pups whelped March 20, 2002.
March 26, 2003, to Oakwood Simon of Brandywine; pups whelped May 26, 2003.

The 1999 cross with Woody resulted in two members of the Blackburn crew: Blackburn ZZTopDog and Blackburn Windy.  The 2002 cross with Toast resulted in one member of the Blackburn crew: Blackburn Kira Nerys.  The 2003 cross with Simon gave us Blackburn Flame and Blackburn Kuri.
